The Dutch salderingsregeling ends on 1 January 2027. From that date, electricity taken from the grid and solar electricity exported to the grid are settled separately. Your panels keep generating valuable electricity, but timing becomes more important.

Until the end of 2026, eligible households can offset exported electricity against electricity consumed over the annual settlement period. From 2027 this netting mechanism ends. Your supplier still records exported electricity and must apply the contract conditions and compensation that are valid for your agreement.
Start with annual consumption, solar generation and grid export. Shift flexible demand—such as a dishwasher, heat-pump water heater or electric car—towards sunny hours where practical. Then compare selling, sharing and storage without assuming one option is always best.
A high advertised export payment does not automatically mean the lowest annual bill. Compare the electricity price, fixed charges, export-related charges, contract term and compensation using the same annual profile.
